Paris Fashion Week Homme SS20 : TATRAS – one great escape from today’s urban chic look disaster …

Endymion had the honor to assist to Tatras first international show which happened in the fashion city that is Paris. The show having the main theme of “Lies & Truth” took place in la Salle Pleyel and was choreographed like a real three-act play. To which we must add that men on the runway look most definitely better with sun – glasses than with heavy eye – shadow despite the theatrical implications thereof.
The Tatras collection as presented gives out a streetwise Urban Chic look that somehow stands out from the usual fashion scene. Indeed, Tatras offers such different outfits that the same thing could be worn for extremely different occasions or events: From going to a posh rooftop party in Brooklyn, Chelsea, or in the Marais to going to your local laundromat on a Sunday morning because you lack the clothes as all is being washed right now – or maybe randomly strolling into an abandoned parking lot.
Moreover, the color palette chosen for the collection gives out a summery feeling in addition to a sense of freedom. There were colors you wouldn’t usually see men wearing although they brought out a sense of freshness to a look; among them sage, coral, light blue, orange and red. And yet with this vivid range of colors followed an introduction into what can only be called the 23 shades of black (raven, jet, scarab, etc.) and thus by such color signatures alone a sly transitional abandoned-parking-lot look became inevitable, as those shades of black (try tar heh) are always an easy go-to solution when one likes to dress up but has but little inspiration or purpose.
So what you see in this collection that Tatras has several black items on offer for its clients, some of them with logos and words prints such as the name of the collection “Lies & Truth” as well as other various graffiti prints that stand out.
Another ground-breaking feature in this abandoned parking lot streetwear collection was the pairing of t-shirts, sweatshirts or windbreaker jackets with tailored pants. A casual yet sophisticated combination that anyone can wear.
To sum things up, Tatras SS20, by taking Urban Chic from the rooftops into the streets, may have brought us the perfect antidote to today’s fashion system. Because this is the great escape from contemporary swag convention; so that Scumbros must take note, and may finally get off the sidewalks and move to where they belonged all along — into abandoned parking lots.
