Agnès b. AW19/20 Latest Collection Fresh & Timeless
There are several things that we admire about Agnès b. here at Endymion, and one of them has to be her ability to bring a fresh touch to classic looks. More than 40 years in the making and she is still true to her own brand identity which was settled when she first started: Agnès b. manages to keep her style and to bring something new and refreshing every time. In other words, she is a true artist.
The AW 19/20 Agnès b. collection presented at the Paris Fashion Week was composed of plain and sober yet elegant looks. It really isn’t surprising if you know that a creator’s main objective is to offer comfortable outfits which are easy to wear. The collection can be considered timeless as it fits every age: from young university students and active businessman to a stylish grandfather picking up his grandchildren at school.
Timelessness asides, the collection has the particularity of giving out a fresh 1940’s vibe with the colors: black, maroon, blue gray and brownish items. Other elements such as military boots, suspenders, small checkered straight trousers or jumpers and vertical stripes can be seen as references to the period of time.
Agnès b. created looks that fit multiple environments. For example, she revisited the regular white-collar worker outfit by replacing regular trousers with pants that are made of smooth velvet or are printed with Scottish squares. Furthermore, she offers a collection of chic street wear articles such as long boxer shorts, sweatshirts, sweatpants and fanny packs.
The outfits created use multiple materials showing the savoir-faire of the house: leather, smooth velvet, satin or prints (cheetah, contrasted colors, pictures of nature) and give an opportunity to gentlemen to diversify their wardrobe. After all it is the costume that carries the man, rather than a man wearing the costume.
As this was the first Agnès b. show where the women and men’s collections were together on the runway, the collection offers a variety of looks that equally apply to both men and women. And this is precisely what is remarkable about true classy traditional chic. Thus, a great chance for couples to follow Asian trends and to match their outfit in order to show their love and commitment. And so Agnès b. makes the subtle distinction that men and women have the ability to complement each other by creating outfits which are similar in style yet slightly different in cut, pattern, and wear, rather than to simply “copy-pasting” the look of a man for a woman, or vice versa.
This AW 19/20 collection brings back the harmony, simplicity and tradition of yore to today’s fashion scene where by and large more avant-garde creator fashion content has taken the lead (Dior, Prada).
